Guild Wars Invasion Event
This is an idea that I play with for while. Basicly it will be a world wide and world effect event, lasting for about 1 to 2 weeks. This event could be progressive*, and effect the exploration area, as well as perphas adding one or two mission/major quest or area with it as well. It could be for any story or enemy, but I will use a Charr Invasion Event as example.
The Charrs has begain a major offensive push against Ascalon, threaten even the Drawfs. Once again, they cross the wall, seeking to burn down the remaining human population once for all. In the progression of this event, you will start seeing Charrs more (in the exploration areas), like in the Moutains or cross the wall in old Ascalon (their level will be balance to to the region). You will see them fighting with the locals, and of couse, hunting down on you. As time progress, you will see them move further and further inland. also will open up a new one or two mission, where you help drive back the Charrs, or even a new exploration area as well, the Charr Tribal land. Also new quest can be given in accordance to the story.
This is to make player feel that they are in part with the Game world, part of the story and event that is shaping the whole. Much like the excitment I feel for the first time in beta, when in the last days, the "solo" areas change and begain to populate with Charrs who was not there before. Beside some time/level differnce issue, I think it would help to improve the overall game.

The Charr are really unfinished business in the GW plot... I think that would be a great way to finish it off. You could even throw in some in game politics and drama with King Adelbern avenging his son's death. That could be a lot of fun... good thinking.

Just for a bit of clearfication... Charr were use more as an example. This sort of event could be apply to differnt enemies, with differnt background stories and such. The basic idea is to change and shape the exisiting (aka same old boring) areas by the impact of a world-wide player involving event. Other possiblites might include....
Fallen Star : A giant astroid fall to the ground.... and with it, new outerwordly enemies...
Death Plague : A strange diseases is plaguing the Npc and players, go find a cure.
Storm: A giant storm (or any natural diseaster) is coming. Help people survie. (bring lots rain, flooding, and lighting)
Gold Mine: All of world's supply of gold is gone!?! Find out who is behind it...

I would love to see more 'events' in GW. Things that make the world seem to live and change.

I like this, a long with another long term quest to Rebuild Ascalon (some suggested starting a 1,000,000 gold donation fund). I'll try to find the link...
Here it is: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ding+Ascalo n
BTW, actionjack, you have a lot of good ideas. I love your alchemist idea, too!

Thxs alot for the encouragements.
I been a long time poster on suggestion forums, and just recently move to this one. There are still a few things I would like to share with the good people here, but I will just do it step by step so I won't flood the whole forum...

How about those giant blue crystals that litter the Ascalonian areas...they rise up into giant crystal guardians/spiders.

Ummm have you even finished the game yet? Because your statement doesn't fit into what I know about the "rest of the story".

But why just make it in 1-2 weeks. Why not make a special city that will be invaded like one time a day?
